An article on CNN Money says the increased spending reflects that homeowners are sprucing up new homes or fixing up a house to sell. Investors are so confident that the company’s stock went up 3%, making their collective stock 47% higher than last year. Company CFO commented,
“when consumers believe their home is an investment, not an expense, they spend differently. We are seeing that.”
Home builders are also encouraged by the housing market and spending trends as new single-family home construction has increased almost 13% from June to July this year.
The psychology of individuals and potential homebuyers is also shifting. As the job market strengthens, people have become more confident in real estate as an investment.
Even Millennials are starting to change their minds. Having grown up with the experience of many Americans losing their homes, this is a significant indication that the times they are a changin’ indeed.
