As we all know, where you live affects many aspects of your life: health, community, opportunities, and more. It turns out, Sanibel is a pretty good place to live, according to its residents.
The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index for the years 2014 and 2015 ranks Lee County #19 out of 190 communities in the country for well-being. The total report included over 2.7 million interviews in over 140 countries.
The study assess five elements of well-being.
- PURPOSE: Liking what you do each day and being motivated to achieve your goals
- SOCIAL: Having supportive relationships and love in your life
- FINANCIAL: Managing your economic life to reduce stress and increase security
- COMMUNITY: Liking where you live, feeling safe, and having pride in your community
- PHYSICAL: Having good health and enough energy to get things done daily
Writer at newspress.com notes, “A healthy community means more than keeping people from illness and injury; it engages individuals with their environment in support of a healthy lifestyle that promotes physical and mental well-being.”
As it stands, the culture, economy, and sunshine do Sanibel residents some good. Just one more reason to love Sanibel.
