Summer on Sanibel Island, Florida is a time for rainy days – at least that’s what a lot of people think. Summers in Southwest Florida offer some of the most beautiful skies perfect cloud watching while you daydream on the beach and some of the most colorful sunsets of the whole year.
While it’s true that summer is the rainiest part of the year, don’t worry, every day isn’t a washout. More often than not, we get a daily shower lasting an hour or two and then the skies are blue again with big white fluffy clouds floating by.
Check out this photo montage from the Sanibel causeway taken on July 18th. We were treated to a stunning, vivid rainbow shooting through the cotton clouds and landing in San Carlos Bay. Just 20 minutes later the dark rain filled skies had moved in for a quick shower off in the distance. And when the next picture was taken, two hours later, the skies were blue again!
So don’t be afraid to spend the lazy days of summer with us here in Southwest Florida. There is plenty of fabulous weather to enjoy, after all, we’re called The Sunshine State for a reason!
