Some of the most beautiful (and delicious) gems in Southwest Florida come from one place: Norman Love Confections.
If you live on Sanibel, good chances are you’re no stranger to Norman Love’s gourmet chocolates. They are more than just silky, rich and decadent–every single chocolate is artfully crafted and considered with decorative swirls and splashes of color. Almost reminiscent to a mini Jackson Pollock, I can often feel like I’m eating a piece of art. The signature green and brown boxes they’re packaged in are even luxurious (hint hint: Valentine’s Day is just around the corner).
Love recently received national recognition as a world-class chocolatier. He is the first-ever to be inducted into the Chocolatier Hall of Fame in the national magazine, Dessert Professional. Surrounded by industry peers, other acclaimed professional pastry chefs applauded and gave well-deserved praise towards Norman Love’s chocolates. One peer noted:
“There is a single individual who, for two and a half decades, has single-handedly been responsible for the chocolate revolution in North America. Most of the fine chocolate industry owes what it knows to Norman–from quality, to techniques, to packaging.”
Moreover, Love remains down-to-earth, even with 75 professionals operating out of his three locations in Southwest Florida and a background that includes names like Godiva, a bronze metal in a World Cup of Pastry patisserie competition in France, and serving as the executive pastry chef for the Ritz-Carlton’s main operations.
All considering, it’s a true honor that Norman Love chose Southwest Florida as his home, opening Norman Love Confections right here in Fort Myers in 2001, making the area a leader in high-end artisanal chocolate.
Sanibel Island has even more to offer than decadent, world-class chocolates–though that certainly adds to the appeal. There are other notable food and dining scenes. Also, of course, Sanibel provides a wonderful lifestyle and fabulous homes.
