The National Association of Realtors (NAR) recently released the results of their Investment and Vacation Home Buyers Survey for the year 2015.
Investment-home sales increased 7 percent and owner-occupied purchases increased 16 percent compared to the year prior. While vacation-home sales decreased 18 percent, last year’s vacation sales were still the second highest since the year 2006.
Buyers cited many reasons for their investments: low prices, generating income, a good deal at the right time, retirement plans, or a place for the family to retreat.
“Perhaps encouraged by rising house demand and home prices, over 80 percent of both vacation buyers and investment buyers believe that now is a good time to purchase real estate.” – FloridaRealtors
According to NAR chief economist, Lawrence Yun, “Steadily increasing home prices and strong rental demand appear to be giving more individual investors assurance that purchasing real estate will diversify their portfolios and generate additional income if they decide to rent out the home.”
